Community News

2021 Millstone Ridge HOA Annual Meeting:
The Annual HOA meeting for 2021 will be on October 19th, 2021 at 6:30PM at the Mint Hill Town Hall.

Fall Update 2021:
It’s the time of the year for the Fall Update on our community, I hope you are all happy and healthy! Pool Update The pool will close for the season at 10 PM, Sunday, Sept 26th. I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy it this year. We are hoping to update some lighting in the restrooms during the offseason. We just did some plumbing repairs to the pool house which should save us on water bills. Annual Meeting We have not set a date for our Annual HOA Meeting. Hawthorne Management has been working to set this date but has not yet secured a meeting place. We hope to update the community on this soon. Common Area Landscaping Our long-time landscaper had to shut down their operation due to a shortage of workers. Fortunately for us, the board conducted an RFP last Fall and had several quotes for replacement. The cost is slightly higher, but I am expecting an improved value delivery. The new company is Baytree and their service will begin Sept 1st 2021. Neighborhood Yard Sale Our Annual Yard Sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd from 6AM-1PM. Fall Festival/Social At this time, there are no plans to re-instate our Fall Social due to health risks. The interest was always low during the pre-COVID times, so we don’t want to use community funds for an event that would not be widely attended. We miss everyone and look forward to some time in the future where our families can gather safely. Thank you for your time today and please keep working to stay healthy. Spring 2021 Update:
Hello Neighbors! Our pool is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 1st. We don’t believe that COVID waivers will be required this year. The entrance irrigation system will be inspected, repaired and re-commissioned in the next few weeks. Please be patient if the timers are wacky for a few days. We are battling a kudzu infestation in the common area woods between Lower Phillips and Ivey Wood Lane. Left untreated, this will kill all of the trees and plant life in the area and toward pool. I am personally working on limiting the growth for right now, and will call in professionals if and when needed. Most of the process is labor and as long as I can supply that for free, we can save some major money. We won’t be having a Spring Social this year, but are expecting to have some sort of Fall Social. Our board has simplified most of the management processes so our staffing needs for the board are less intensive than in the past. However, we are looking for volunteers that can manage projects for time to time. This means that for special projects, we need someone to lead and manage the project, without need to commit to the board long term. A few projects we need help with are: -Charity Fund Raising -Volunteer recruitment for local opportunities -Roadside cleanup, Adopt-a-Highway? -Millstone Ridge Book Club -Pool Area Playground/Picnic area Vision leaders If you are interested in any of these, please let me know and I will review the scope and pace of a particular project with you. Happy Days are here again! Summer 2021 should be a great time as we transition to a back-to-normal Fall. Please have a great time this summer, be considerate to your neighbors, and as always, let me know if the board or I can be helpful in anyway.
